    IMG – founded in 1987 - provides information visual communication services to the office of corporate communications (OCC) - is seeking a full-time Communications Assistant at its Dahlgren, VA location.


    We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with experience developing professional communications products in support of stakeholder outreach and engagement efforts. The successful candidate will also assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of engagement meetings and high visibility events in accordance with the Strategic Communications Plan. The role requires superior interpersonal and communications skills and an ability to effectively interact with senior level government officials, distinguished visitors, and media and community representatives.


    • Support the Annual Strategic Communications Plan development; provide thought leadership in the development of topics, messaging, target audiences, and recommended approaches.
    • Perform event design, site surveys, logistical coordination, and multimedia requirements definition/coordination and ensure effective execution of distinguished guest visits, anniversaries, community events, and other high-profile meetings.
    • Initiate/track job orders and collaborate with Visual Information Specialists on graphics, video, photography support requirements.
    • Assist in the development and coordination of web-based, electronic, and hard copy communications products including news releases, articles, statements, digital signage content, and meeting and event materials.
    • Assist in the design, development, and management of content displayed on internal and external facing web and social media platforms, digital signage, and other exhibit/display mediums.
    • Research, conducting interviews, writing, editing and obtaining release/approval for articles, feature stories, news releases and statements including electronic web based and hard copy material.
    • Ability to support employee communication programs and products, media relations programs, community relations, special events and provide photography support.


    • Undergraduate degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field of study.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience performing stakeholder outreach and engagement planning, coordination, and execution.
    • Superior MS Office suite skills.
    • Familiarity with military traditions and DoD Protocols.
    • Experience updating web site content using a browser-accessible content management system and hosting solution.
    • Familiarity with DoD or Service level branding and style guidance, Public Release Process, and related policies/procedures.
    • Capable of performing tasks independently with minimal supervision and proactively anticipate emerging requirements.

    Desired Skills/Experience:

    • Proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite 6 applications, Snagit10 screen capture software, and web languages (e.g. JavaScript CSS HTML PHP ASP)
